FIRST POST OF THE NEW YEAR.....

It's the first post of the year, so Happy New Year to all players, and tykf would like to wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2011.
With so many matches called off during the Christmas/New Year period prediction questions have been completed in dribs and drabs, so here is a brief review of what has happened recently in our prediction game.

Unfortunately the bonus question for December had to be postponed due to the bad weather, and along with November's bonus question it will be rescheduled in the coming months.
Question 4 of Section A has nearly been completed with the only outstanding outcome being in Scottish Division 2. Premiership players involved in this question saw Manchester City become the first team to score 4 goals after Christmas Day, with QPR-Southampton-Cheltenham-Forest Green-Rangers-Dunfermline and Arbroath following suit in their respective leagues.
Manchester City were correctly chosen by 4 players with the most popular choice being Chelsea and Spurs just ahead of Man United. The four players who went for City were: Smudgy(Blackpool)-Tiler99(Wigan)-MaineRoadDan(Man City)-DodoSCFC(Stoke City) and they all collect 6 points. In the Championship the most popular choice were Middlesboro' who were chosen by 14 players, followed by Nott'm Forest selected by 9. QPR who scored 4 first were chosen by just 3 players,Spider(Coventry)-Canaryjoe(Norwich)-Bladestunner(Sheff Utd) so well done to those three who also scored 6 points.
In League 1 the most popular prediction was Huddersfield with Sheff Wednesday and Scunthorpe also being fairly popular, but the correct selection of Southampton was only chosen by 2 players,TheLeg-end(Charlton)-OllieOwl(Sheff.Weds). There were no correct choices in either League 2 or the Blue Sq Bet Premiership were the most chosen teams were Chesterfield and Wimbledon, Luton and Wrexham. The closest to a points score in the Blue Square league was MorganHarrier(Kidderminster) who in selecting Mansfield only just missed out.Although Mansfield scored 5 at Cambridge, Forest Green scored their 4 quicker and so took the plaudits.
In Scotland predictably the Old Firm dominated the choices in the SPL with 9 players going for Celtic, and 8 for Rangers who were in fact first to hit 4 goals. The following is a list of the 8 players who all score 6 points: Buddiedan(St.Mirren)-Spence(Hibs)-StevieMFC(Motherwell)-TheBIGgee(Rangers)-DavieSB91(Rangers)-TezzaRFC(Rangers)-TeenageKicks(Hibs)-Adam21(Ham.Accies). In the 1st Division it was Dunfermline who took the award after hitting 5 past local rivals Cowdenbeath. Most selected teams were Dundee and Falkirk. 3 players NormB(Raith)-Strov(Dundee)-Eastendparky(Dunfermline)all scored 6 points by choosing the 'Pars'. Arbroath scored 4 goals first after Christmas Day in Division 3 and not one of our players in this division selected them, the most chosen teams were Berwick and East Stirling.

Question 6 in this section was completed on New Years Day, and a breakdown of what happened follows in the next post........

SEASON WELL UNDER WAY....

This seasons competition is now well under way and 12 questions have already been completed. The 1st Bonus Question, the one for November, was due to be completed today, however due to the adverse weather conditions in Scotland the game between Queen of the South and Ross County in the Final of the Alba Challenge Cup was cancelled. When the game is rearranged the Bonus Question for November will be re-set.
Two questions were completed this weekend both in Section B, questions 14 and 15. Dimitar Berbatov's amazing performance for Manchester United against Blackburn at Old Trafford saw him leapfrog Carlos Tevez to become the 1st NON British player to score 10 Premiership league goals this season. This outcome was predicted by only 5 players :mls1870(Stranraer)/Murph(Stirling Albion)/Ryan(Raith Rovers)/The Leg-End(Charlton) and Stoker 89(Bradford) so well done to them all. Most popular choice was Didier Drogba , followed by Carlos Tevez,Tim Cahill, and Robin Van Persie.
The other question concerning the number of league goals that Brighton would score in November caught most players out as due to Cup football, Brighton only played 2 league games in which they scored just 3 goals. This answer was predicted by three players : Martc(Morton)/Strov(Dundee)/and Restandbethankful(Morton) with the latter 2 players gaining their first points.
The Leaderboards will be updated in a couple of days...

ANOTHER QUESTION IS COMPLETED...

Following yesterday's Blue Square Premier game between Tamworth and Luton, another question(B 2) was completed, with the rather surprising result being 3-1 to Tamworth.
